Handloom Authenticity Policy
Our Commitment to Handloom Every saree offered on our platform is handwoven by skilled artisans using traditional weaving techniques, ensuring authenticity and craftsmanship. What “Handloom” Means A handloom saree is created on a manual loom operated entirely by a weaver, without the use of automated or power-driven machinery. This means:
- Each saree is woven by hand
- Production is slow, skill-intensive, and unique
- Every piece reflects the individual craftsmanship of the artisan
Because of this process, no two sarees are ever exactly identical.
Authenticity Verification
To maintain the authenticity of our collection, we follow strict sourcing practices:
- Sarees are sourced directly from master weavers, artisan groups, or verified cooperatives
- Wherever applicable, we verify Handloom Mark and Silk Mark certifications
- Our team works closely with weaving clusters to understand the origin, technique, and materials used
Natural Characteristics of Handloom
Textiles Handwoven textiles may show slight variations, including but not limited to:
- Minor irregularities in weave
- Slight variations in motifs
- Small differences in texture
- Slight color variations due to natural dyes or dyeing processes
These are not defects but distinctive marks of authentic handloom craftsmanship.
GI (Geographical Indication) Sourcing Policy
Our Commitment to Authentic Regional Sarees Many of India’s most iconic sarees are protected under Geographical Indication (GI) status, which certifies that a product originates from a specific region and follows traditional methods. we are committed to sourcing authentic sarees from their true geographical origins.
What is a GI Tag?
A Geographical Indication (GI) is a certification granted by the Government of India that protects products whose quality, reputation, or characteristics are linked to a specific location. GI tags help prevent imitation and protect traditional craftsmanship.
Our Sourcing Standards
For GI-tagged sarees in our collection, we ensure that:
- The sarees are sourced from recognized weaving clusters
- The weaving technique corresponds to the traditional method associated with the GI
- Wherever available, GI certification or cooperative verification is obtained
We work directly with artisan clusters, master weavers, and cooperatives to ensure authenticity.
Protecting Traditional Crafts
The misuse of GI names has led to many imitation products in the market. Our policy is simple: We do not label or market any product under a GI name unless it genuinely originates from that region and follows the traditional technique.
